As of the date of this notification ProPharma / PWR cannot accept Enalapril-Ethics for credit under any circumstances.
From 1 January 2020 community pharmacies dispensing Enalapril Maleate will need to support patients changing to the new brand and manage stock during the transition.
We would recommend you continue to purchase the incumbent and we will change automatically as existing stocks are exhausted.
Benefit of staying with incumbent while stock remains available are minimal, but every cent counts:-
5 mg : – Average dispensing is 270 tablets. Therefore 1 x 270 Enalapril-Ethics @ $10.368 x 3% = $0.3110 plus $0.6912 (proportion pack fee) giving you $1.0022
Compared to 1 x 270 Acetec x 3% = $0.1474 plus $0.6912 (proportional pack fee) giving you $0.8386 excludes repackaging costs.
10mg : – Average dispensing is 270 tablets. Therefore 1 x 270 Enalapril-Ethics @ $13.392 x 3% = $0.4018 plus $0.6912 (proportion pack fee) giving you $1.0930
Compared to 1 x 270 Acetec x 3% = $0.1636 plus $0.6912 (proportional pack fee) giving you $0.8548 excludes repackaging costs.
20mg : – Average dispensing is 180 tablets. Therefore 1 x 180 Enalapril-Ethics @ $12.8160 x 3% = $0.3845 plus $0.4608 (proportion pack fee) giving you $0.8453
Compared to 1 x 180 Acetec x 3% = $0.1307 plus $0.4608 (proportional pack fee) giving you $0.5915 excludes repackaging costs.
You MUST manage your stock to avoid being caught with stock at the time sole supply commences 1 June 2020. Failure to do so may prove very costly.
Once again we need your support to ensure stock in the supply chain moves through, to effectively ensure no losses are incurred by – supplier, wholesaler and pharmacy.
ProPharma / PWR will make a commercial decision in relation to stock holding which will potentially mean a change for pharmacy and patient. Unfortunately with the PHARMAC decision to have both new and incumbent products listed and fully funded until the commencement of the sole supply 1 June 2020 we need to act in the best interest of the company, pharmacy and patient. The patient will need to change, however wholesalers and pharmacy do not need to experience potential losses during the transition period.
Together we can make this a seamless and painless transition.
We thank you in anticipation of your ongoing support.
